A pair, of a series. The original idea came from a brief which required the mobius form to be considered. This work became inspired by the geology of the SW peninsular of Devon and Cornwall. The pieces are sand cast and reference landscape forms and texture and light in the hand finishing.

TABLE CENTRE PIECE

This is a table centre piece designed to an open brief for a competition - for presentation to specific clients. A small vase in the centre carries a few blooms.

Based on traditional heraldry - the coats of arms are used to create the sculptural relief in cast pewter mounted on a turned green oak burr base, with beautiful natural patterning in the wood, and oak pegs. Designed and made for Pewter Live 2011 Competition for presentation from The Worshipful Company of Pewterers to the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards - they are the ones in red uniforms and busbys!

Subject drawn from book '1984' - big brother's subtle telescreen spy - blank and apparently blind but may detect 'facecrime'. Reference to 'doublethink' and contemporary parallels to spin-doctoring, urban surveillance methods and conditioning through media and advertising.
