'Oil floats on troubled waters'.
Cedar wood
13cm x 200cm x 130cm
This modular floor sculpture is of this time, history in the making – resembling the sea, made of cedar wood from the local Tamar Valley and scorched to resemble dirt/blackness and something ‘dark’, a threat at this time… 'Oil floats on troubled waters' whilst modular format is representative of the age of industrialisation and mass production. This references oil spills at sea and the resultant consequences, which are yet to be totally felt or understood, especially the Deepwater Horizon incident in late April 2010 - http://ocean.si.edu/ocean-news/carthe-drifters-where-does-oil-go-when-it-spilled
