Modular floor sculpture - scorched, shaped wood
'Oil floats on troubled waters'.
13cm x 200cm x 130cm
This modular floor sculpture is of this time, history in the making – resembling the sea, made of cedar wood from the local Tamar Valley and scorched to resemble dirt/blackness and something ‘dark’, a threat at this time… 'Oil floats on troubled waters' whilst modular pattern is representative of the age of industrialisation and mass production. Referencing oil spills at sea and the resultant consequences, which are yet to be totally felt or understood, especially the Deepwater Horizon incident in late April 2010. http://ocean.si.edu/ocean-news/carthe-drifters-where-does-oil-go-when-it-spilled
